Huawei, Konza Launch AI-Enabled BPO to Boost Youth Jobs in Siaya

Huawei, in partnership with the Konza Technopolis Development Authority, has launched a state-of-the-art contact centre platform to support Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services at the Siaya Community Digital Hub. The unveiling took place during the Siaya Digital Summit 2026 at Bondo Township Primary School Grounds.

The hub becomes the first in Kenya to host a BPO, powered by AI-assisted technology. Twenty youth have been trained to use the platform, enabling them to handle customer service across messaging, web, and phone channels. The centre will serve both local and international clients, creating jobs and boosting digital transformation in the region.

Huawei and Konza plan to replicate the model across other digital hubs nationwide. The AI system enhances efficiency by generating responses, logging interactions, and analysing cases to support high-quality service delivery.

Ruth Mokaya, Cloud Solutions Engineer at Huawei, said the initiative demonstrates how technology can transform communities by equipping youth with relevant digital skills under the company’s Tech4All programme.

ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo said the government is focused on expanding access to digital opportunities, noting that partnerships like Huawei and Konza help create jobs and enable youth to compete globally.

At the summit, Huawei also trained 100 youth in networking, cabling, and ICT infrastructure under the Huawei Certified ICT Associate programme, supporting Kenya’s growing digital infrastructure.

Konza Technopolis CEO John Paul Okwiri highlighted the role of digital hubs in nurturing innovation and talent, while beneficiary Olivier Ogawa said the training has equipped youth with practical skills for online work and the BPO sector.

The Siaya hub is part of the government’s Jitume Digital Hubs programme, which aims to establish centres in all 1,450 wards. So far, 290 hubs have been set up, reaching over 400,000 youth.
