AA Kenya has launched the Msamaria Mwema Road Safety Campaign and Medical Camp at Railways Stage in Nakuru County as part of activities marking the upcoming World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on 16 November 2025. The initiative aims to address the rising number of road accidents along the Northern Corridor, one of the country’s busiest and most dangerous transport routes.

Ahead of the two-day event, AA Kenya officials visited Sachangwan, a stretch of road long associated with fatal crashes. The team laid wreaths in memory of those who lost their lives there, sending a powerful reminder of the human cost of unsafe driving and the urgency of preventive measures.

More than 600 participants, among them PSV drivers, long-distance truck operators, boda boda riders, and hailing cab drivers, are taking part in the campaign. Attendees are receiving defensive driving training, first-aid certification, and medical screening to equip them with skills to serve as first responders in emergencies.

Participants are also benefiting from eye, dental, ENT, and general wellness checks, as well as mental health and fatigue management awareness sessions. NTSA officials are offering education on licensing and compliance, while financial literacy and insurance experts are providing guidance to improve economic preparedness among drivers.

County Traffic Enforcement Officer and Chairman of CTOs, Allan Ogola, emphasized the importance of equipping drivers with critical knowledge, noting that every accident prevented represents a life saved.

AA Kenya Group Managing Director Francis Theuri underscored the broader impact of the initiative, stating that road safety is a shared responsibility. He noted that investing in driver training is far more cost-effective than dealing with the aftermath of road crashes, which include medical bills, funerals, and psychological trauma.

NTSA Nakuru Regional Manager John Jinja Parteroi highlighted the need for collaboration among road safety stakeholders to ensure greater awareness, compliance, and accountability on Kenyan roads.

The campaign is supported by a wide network of partners, including CBM, Mololine Services Limited, Prestige Shuttle, Highway Luxury, Molo Group, Moline Luxury, Moline Limited, Nyakati, Nyamakima, 2NK, and various SACCOs, demonstrating a united front in the push for safer roads.

For many of the participants, the program is proving transformative. Boda boda rider Peter Mwangi said the first-aid training has given him confidence to assist accident victims, noting that simple actions can make the difference between life and death.

AA Kenya is calling on all road users to observe traffic regulations and prioritize safety, reaffirming its vision of roads where every journey ends safely.
