Constitutional bodies are set to come under scrutiny over their preparedness to oversee a credible and peaceful 2027 General Election as religious leaders and other stakeholders meet in Nairobi.
The Kenya Religious Leaders Forum, bringing together the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims and National Council of Churches of Kenya, is holding a two day national stakeholders’ convention at Ufungamano House.
The forum is assessing the readiness of constitutional bodies to deliver elections that meet democratic and credibility standards while safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.
The stakeholders are also examining measures to secure the 2027 electoral cycle and prevent disruptions that could threaten peace or undermine the conduct of the elections.
The meeting comes as political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election intensifies, placing renewed focus on the preparedness of institutions mandated to manage and safeguard the electoral process.
Religious leaders are expected to use the convention to assess potential risks and explore measures that could help prevent electoral tensions from escalating into violence.
