Jubilee Eyes Strong Comeback in Ol Kalou with United Opposition Bid

By James Mutua

The Jubilee Party has called for opposition unity ahead of the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election following the death of area MP David Kiaraho.

Addressing the press, the party’s Secretary General Moitalelel Ole Kenta, said Jubilee will field a candidate in the by-election scheduled for Thursday, May 14, noting that the seat was previously held under its ticket. He added that the party will ensure a free, fair and transparent nomination process,in line with democratic principles and the will of the people.

At the same time, Jubilee urged its coalition partners to rally behind a single opposition candidate under its banner. The party said the move responds to growing calls from Kenyans for a more unified and strategic opposition capable of presenting a credible alternative government.

“This is a defining moment for the opposition,” the statement read, adding that citizens are demanding cooperation over competition and long-term strategy over short-term political interests.

The party pointed to previous instances where it supported a unified opposition front, including in Mbeere North and the recent Emurua Dikirr by-election in Narok County, where coalition partners agreed on a single candidate.

Jubilee reiterated that unity among opposition parties remains critical in strengthening their political position and meeting public expectations.

However, the party also maintained that it will field candidates across all elective positions in the 2027 General Election, from Members of County Assembly to the presidency.
