Residents of Kinangop Constituency have welcomed the progress made in the construction of the Ndunyu Njeru–Kahuruko–Kwa Mbekenya road, commending the national government and area Member of Parliament, Hon. Kwenya Thuku, for advancing the key infrastructure project.
The road, now about 80 percent complete, is expected to significantly improve connectivity within Kinangop while linking the constituency to neighboring Kipipiri and enhancing access to the Aberdare National Park. Locals say the development will play a crucial role in boosting transport, trade, and tourism in the region.
Community members noted that work on the remaining 20 percent is ongoing, with the MP reportedly pushing to ensure timely completion. They praised both national and local leadership for their commitment to delivering the long-awaited project.
Bilhah Wanjiku Kanyago, speaking on behalf of residents, said the road would greatly ease the transportation of farm produce to markets, addressing long-standing challenges caused by poor road conditions, especially during rainy seasons.
“This road will transform our lives. We will be able to access markets more easily, move our goods without delays, and attract development to our area,” she said.
Susan Wanjiru Muchai also highlighted the economic potential of the project, noting that improved access to the Aberdare National Park could stimulate tourism, create jobs, and open up new income opportunities for local families.
“We are very grateful. This road goes beyond transport, it represents growth. It will attract visitors and investors, improving livelihoods in our community,” she said.
Residents expressed appreciation to President William Ruto and Hon. Kwenya Thuku for prioritizing infrastructure development, voicing confidence that the project will be completed soon and deliver lasting benefits.
