Artificial intelligence, the race to net zero, risk in public procurement, ethics and governance, mental health management, and diversity and inclusion are among the key issues to be addressed during the fifth ACCA Africa Members Convention (AMC2025) in December 2025.

This year’s theme, “Leading an Evolved Profession for a Changed World,” reflects the evolution of the accountancy profession amid rapid global socio-economic transformation. The discussions will focus on how finance and accountancy professionals can lead and respond innovatively to the complex needs of stakeholders while driving sustainable and ethical transformation across people, businesses, and economies in Africa.

“Africa’s Agenda 2063 aspires to a prosperous continent based on inclusive growth and sustainable development. As finance professionals, we must be at the forefront of this transformation driving sustainability, promoting social value, reshaping businesses, enabling innovative technologies, and sharpening our ethical and financial skills for  the Africa We Want,” said Jamil Ampomah, Director  Africa at ACCA, during the AMC2025 media roundtable in Nairobi.

AMC is a biennial gathering for ACCA members and leaders across Africa. It provides a vital platform for discussing professional issues on the continent, shaping global strategies for ACCA, and strengthening professional networks. This year’s convention will take place from 3 – 5 December 2025 at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa, Mombasa.

The event comes as ACCA embarks on a major redesign of its gold-standard ACCA Qualification, redefining the role of accountants to meet evolving business needs. The new approach emphasizes profitability balanced with ethics, sustainability, and technology-driven agility in navigating economic volatility changes also resonating across the public sector.

Topical discussions at AMC2025 will bring together professionals, educators, policymakers, and industry leaders to share insights and strategies for leading Africa’s transformation. The sessions will focus on leveraging innovation and ethical leadership to strengthen public institutions and private enterprises alike.

Speaking at the same event, George Njari, ACCA Head of East Africa Cluster, urged finance professionals to embrace innovative approaches to public sector productivity and fiscal growth.

“New technologies including data analytics and AI can enhance efficiency and transparency in public institutions. However, professionals must also identify emerging risks and establish governance frameworks to help governments and organizations navigate these changes,” he noted.

The convention will also feature the announcement of the 2025 Africa Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) Awards winners on 4 December 2025. These prestigious awards celebrate exceptional CFOs whose leadership in finance is driving innovation, sustainable growth, and business resilience across Africa.
