Kenya Power Shifts to Digital for Electricity Connection Applications

By Jameson Mutua

Kenya Power has announced that individuals and businesses seeking new electricity connections will now be required to submit their applications exclusively through the company’s website. This move aims to improve operational excellence, enhance customer experience, and speed up processing times.

According to Kenya Power’s Managing Director and CEO, Eng. (Dr.) Joseph Siror, the digitization of the application process is part of the company’s transformation agenda, focusing on efficiency, transparency, and customer convenience.

To apply, customers can visit the Kenya Power self-service portal, https://selfservice.kplc.co.ke/public/fill in the required details, and submit the application with the necessary documents, including a national ID, PIN certificate, and route sketch map. An application reference number will be provided instantly, allowing customers to track their application progress.

Kenya Power has also deployed Business Development teams to guide customers through the digital platform and ensure a smooth experience. The company has received an average of 269,268 applications annually over the last three years, with a total of 807,804 applications received during the period.

This shift to digital is expected to reduce turnaround times, increase transparency, and make electricity access more convenient for all Kenyans.
