Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has pledged KES 22 million as the title sponsor of the 2026 Connected Africa Summit set for next week.

The summit will convene some of Africa’s most influential decision-makers to drive conversations around the continent’s digital transformation, at a time when governments are intensifying efforts to modernise public services and broaden digital access.

“Africa’s digital journey has moved beyond exploring possibilities to focusing on solutions that can scale effectively. While significant strides have been made in digitisation, the priority now is ensuring systems operate consistently and practically. Governments require partners capable of delivering integrated, secure, and user-centred solutions that enhance everyday service delivery. This calls for systems that are interconnected, secure, and designed with users in mind,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom.

The summit comes amid growing momentum across African governments to digitise services, expand access, and modernise essential systems to better serve citizens.

“We have supported the summit since its inception in 2009, and over the years, we have witnessed how collaboration between governments, industry players, and partners has helped shape the region’s digital agenda. Together, we have contributed to major milestones, from expanding infrastructure to advancing the digital superhighway. These are not merely policy achievements, but the building blocks of a functional digital economy,” he added.
