AfriSummit 2026, the sixth edition of the regulatory affairs summit for Africa’s pharmaceutical, medical device, in vitro diagnostics (IVD) and diagnostics sectors, will take place from September 28 to October 2, 2026, at Emara Ole-Sereni Hotel in Nairobi.
The event marks the first time the summit will be held in East Africa, with Kenya hosting the five-day gathering.
Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, Kenya, and under the patronage of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), the summit is expected to bring together more than 16 National Regulatory Authorities and Notified Bodies, alongside over 100 speakers and 450 decision-makers from more than 25 countries.
The gathering will bring together regulators, government representatives, industry associations, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, technology providers and regulatory professionals through two dedicated events.
PharmaReg AfriSummit will run from September 28 to 30, followed by MedDevReg AfriSummit from October 1 to 2, providing platforms for discussions on pharmaceutical and medical device regulation.
AfriSummit Chairman Dr Mona Al Moussli said regulatory systems across Africa were entering an important period of development, with increased attention on local manufacturing, strengthening national regulatory capacity and reliance.
“AfriSummit creates a space where regulators and industry can discuss these priorities directly and find ways to move forward together,” she said.
The programme will address key regulatory issues across the continent, including progress under the World Health Organization’s Global Benchmarking Tool, local manufacturing, clinical research, regulatory harmonisation, medical device and IVD oversight, artificial intelligence, traceability, and substandard and falsified health products.
The summit will also feature a one-day eCTD training workshop offering practical guidance on electronic regulatory submissions in line with evolving African and international requirements.
AfriSummit Co-Chairman Dr Najiba Al Shezawy said the diversity of participants remained central to the event’s objectives.
“Our objective is to encourage meaningful exchange, build relationships and support a stronger and more connected regulatory ecosystem across Africa,” she said.
The 2026 edition has attracted support from healthcare organisations and regional and global companies operating across the pharmaceutical, medical device, technology and regulatory sectors.
